UWC Scholarship Trust of SA.
Extensive community service and a wide range of cultural and outdoor activities are features of a UWC education.
The UWC Scholarship Trust of South Africa has been in existence since 1979, when the first group of three students went to Atlantic College in Wales.

A trust established in support of the United World Colleges movement to provide scholarships for South African students to attend the colleges in Canada, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, the United Kingdom and The United States of America. The UWC Scholarship Trust of South Africa has been in existence since 1979, when the first group of three students went to Atlantic College in Wales. Since then the Trust has provided over 150 UWC Scholarships to South African students. In addition, the trust takes care of administration, publicity and fundraising. The day to day affairs of the Trust are taken care of by an Executive Committee of volunteers. The Executive Committee consists of ex-students as well as supporters and is accountable to the Board of Trustees. The selection committees include ex-students, educationalists and community leaders from a variety of backgrounds. Applications are received annually from all over South Africa. Candidates need to be resident in South Africa at the time of applying. We select eligible students to study and complete their final two years of high schooling at one of our Colleges. UWC short programmes take UWC’s mission and values to a wider audience and are a fundamental part of UWC’s outreach work. Each year schools, colleges, national committees and alumni groups are motivated to organise short programmes in a variety of locations. The programmes bring together diverse groups of young people from different socio-economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds, whether from a single country or from across the world. Many UWC short programmes take the form of youth leadership summits and other programmes focus on tensions in particular communities or the development needs of the host country. Through living together and participating in workshops, discussions, community service and personal projects, many more young people enjoy the UWC experience and are empowered to effect change in their communities and beyond. The International Office is the secretariat for the UWC movement and is based in London, UK. The International Board of Directors has executive responsibility for the governance of the organisation. Its members are the Directors and Trustees of UWC International. Defining the ethos and strategic development of the UWC movement. UWC believes that to achieve peace and a sustainable future, the values it promotes are crucial.
