For the last 10-years has been working in an Allied Medical group practice with a Podiatrist (Judith Haley) and Physiotherapist (Joyce Morton) in Glenwood. Whether you are suffering from a chronic disease or are a top professional athlete, a biokineticist can play a key role in helping you improve your quality of life or performance. Biokinetics is defined as t he Science of Movement and the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment or performance. Biokinetics primary function is to improve physical functioning and health care through exercise as modality. Biokinetics is the profession concerned with health promotion, the maintenance of physical abilities and final phase rehabilitation, by means of scientifically-based physical activity programme prescription. Stephan Terblanche delivers a multifaceted program in all treatments through an in-depth assessment and research-proven intervention. All of these we do to suit your lifestyle and achieve utmost wellness. Any person of any age with acute or chronic pain, sport and general injuries, postural defects or weaknesses and chronic lifestyle diseases will benefit from Biokinetics. The focused and individualized approach to rehabilitation yields measureable functional improvement in less time. Stephan Terblanche offers a wide range of services to a well established client base, some of which are nationally branded corporations. We are contracted to most Medical Aids depending on your Health Plan. At the Bio Practice we specialize in the treatment of chronic back pain (neck and lower back) by attempting to treat the primary CAUSE of the pain and not just secondary symptoms or compensatory pain patterns. Once we have determined the cause of the back pain and the aggravating factors we can treat the injury more specifically and teach you ways to manage your back at home (DIY). Whether you are a professional or recreational sportsman or women you are going to be faced with an injury of some sorts in your lifetime. The injuries can vary from traumatic (acute) such as twisting your ankle to atraumatic (chronic) as in knee pain that you develop every time you run a certain distance. The treatment approach for these two types of injuries are different in that you would initially treat the SYMPTOMS (pain, swelling, inflammation) in both traumatic (acute) and atraumatic (chronic) injuries, but eventually would focus on treating the CAUSE in atraumatic (chronic) injuries to get results. Once we have determined the cause or possible aggravating factors of the chronic injury can we device a treatment plan to address the injury and teach you ways to manage it more effectively (DIY).
