SAQCC Gas is Non Profit Company that has been formed by the four (4) Member Associations to establish a central database which displays details of registered and authorised Gas Practitioners to work on gas and gas systems. Registration is compulsory in terms of the OHS Act specifically concerning the Pressure Equipment Regulation (PER). SAQCC Gas is responsible for ensuring that anyone working on Gas Systems, is competent to do so in terms of the PER. Applications for registrations are sent to SAQCC Gas by each Association according to registration criteria and proof of competency, through a portfolio of evidence relating to training, qualifications and experience in the relevant Gas industry. All of our authorised practitioners will now be in possesion of the new SAQCC Practitioners card. On the front of the card is the practitioners identity photograph. The reverse of the card includes a list of qualifications and the logo of the Department of labour. The construction Industry Development Board (cidb) is a Schedule 3a public entity established to lead construction industry stakeholders in construction development. Construction plays a pivotal role in South Africa's economic and social development. It provides the physical infrastructure that is the backbone of economic activity. It is also a large-scale provider of employment opportunities. The role of the cidb is to facilitate and promote the improved contribution of the construction industry to SA's economy and society. development of the emerging sector, including industry transformation; and. Accordingly contractors undertaking housing projects for the public sector do not need to be registered on the cidb Register of Contractors. However, all clients are required to register construction projects on the cidb Register of Projects. The cidb is an agency of the Department of Public Works under the Executive Authority of the Minister. Progress is also reported annually to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Public Works, which has oversight responsibility. The Board is the Accounting Authority in terms of the Public Finance Management Act. Its role is to provide leadership on cidb strategies and priorities. Board members are nominated by the public and appointed by the Minister at least once every three years. They are appointed on the basis of individual experience, expertise and knowledge of the construction industry. Individual members are eligible to serve a maximum of two executive terms.
