This position is key to ensuring availability of plant and equipment, maintaining equipment to OEM specifications and ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ensure that equipment overhauls, major repairs and all projects are properly planned and. Application of technical skills to perform engineering tasks and problem solving. Ongoing professional development and mentorship of intermediate and junior staff. Self-motivated and able to work hard, act professionally and make decisions independently. This includes scheduled maintenance, predictive maintenance, engineering spares ordering and management, managing and negotiating contractors, management of forklift FMX system, services and utilities, projects and legislative issues. Reporting and management of all sustainability issues. Ensure the physical environment is safe for employees and contractors. System in place to measure and track usage of steam, and forklift diesel consumption. Legal compliance of pressure vessels, electrical installation, lifting equipment and rotating machinery. Ensure that plant and equipment is maintained to world-class standards through detailed maintenance schedules, predictive maintenance techniques, effective root cause analysis and thorough lubrication schedules. Ensure that equipment overhauls, major repairs and all projects are properly planned and managed to ensure costs are within budget, hand over is on time and start up is effective. Effectively manage Engineering Spares stock levels to ensure availability of critical spares in a cost effective manner. Ensure components are stored correctly to prevent degradation. 3-5 years Post apprentice experience in the factory or engineering field. Must be prepared to work standby, overtime, shifts, and public holidays and weekends when necessary.
