Since we took over, we’ve revamped all our rooms to make them as scrumptuous as possible. Naturally we still have all the creature comforts such as DSTV, air conditioners, study desks, coffee & tea trays etc. We have three rooms upstairs and three rooms downstairs. Then there’s our Family Room, which is just a few metres away from the main guest house. This lovely retreat has one bedroom with a king sized bed, which again can be made up into two x singles if you wish, a fold out double sofa couch (for kids only), a sitting room, kitchen and en-suite. It has its own security entrance which opens out onto a verandah overlooking our Swimming Pool. In addition, we also have two self catering Budget rooms. These are certainly not Spartan, but just slightly less salubrious than our other rooms, as they are designed for singles only. If you’re here to study or on a budget, then this is for you! They are both separate to the main building, are serviced daily, include free Wifi and secure parking, as well as a buffet breakfast (cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast, juices and tea/coffee). If you still want a cooked breakfast after that, then there is an extra charge for this. Oh, and two of our luxury rooms have ball and claw baths as well as showers. If you have any particular dietary requirements, please give us some advance notice and we’ll do our best to make what you want. We also have our own laundry on premise and our staff love to iron, so (for a small fee) why not take advantage of that and ask them to do your washing, drying and ironing, while you attend to more important matters. To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity. Whether you’re here to crunch some numbers, burn the midnight candle studying or just chill out in the Durban vibe, you set the tone and we’ll do the rest. We’ve both travelled a lot and have worked in hospitality for years, so expect a warm welcome, professional service, good food, and clean, comfy rooms. Being Green is important to us and we are always on the lookout for new ways to save energy, recycle and reduce our carbon footprint. Started in 2008, the name Mackaya Bella is derived from the indigenous shrub which grows near the main entrance and is known for flourishing in quiet environments. Whether you’re here on business, to study or on holiday, we hope to make you feel that you’ve chosen the right place to stay and are now part of our extended family. Many of our return guests tell us that this feels like their home away from home, which is the best compliment.
