La Bella Café, on the historic old site of Durban’s first ever fire station in about 1887 or so, and later on a Berea sub-station, is one of the most striking eateries/pubs in Durban. This famous building was taken over two years ago by Durban entrepreneur Bob Humphreys. Bob took over St Tropez/Eden and began to create a new look with La Bella and the transformation was instant. His idea was to offer a place that served good food at a good price; hence it has been turned into a homely, friendly Italian eatery, offering homemade pasta and pizzas. An Italian style restaurant with the charm of a street café, one can enjoy a hot cup of coffee overlooking the beautiful Essenwood Park, or have a cold pint in our chilled beer garden while getting your sports fix on one of our five big screens. We also provide a private function area on the first floor (including a big screen and sound) which is ideal for a variety of special occasions. Our menu has an Italian flair and offers thin crispy base pizzas and mouth watering pastas such as our homemade fettuccine, and many other specialties including Pork Shank. La Bella is open for breakfast with a variety to suit every palate. For those of you with a sweet tooth there are a variety of fresh Home-made cakes and tarts available. We also cater for the little Bambinos, with simpler but tasty meals.
