What you should know about Groenland
Groenland has been in family ownership for three generations. Some of the reasons for Groenlands success is because of the dedication and dynamic co-operation of the family members involved with the estate. The vineyards consists of 188 hectares, of which 152 hectares are under vine. The vineyards deliver more than 1250 tons of grapes every year. Complex varietal wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and a special blend, Antoinette Marie, have placed the estate in the forefront of superior red wine production. Maturation takes place in American and French oak barrels. It has aromas of ripe berries, plum and chocolate, with hints of vanilla. Medium-bodied wine, soft on the palate, with a few years ageing potential as well. This wine offers sweet tropical aromas of guava, apple, ripe pears and melon. This wine offers fresh fruit and tropical flavours with hints of asparagus, granadilla and green pepper on the noise. Full-bodied, fruity wine with black pepper and berries on the nose, well blended in with chocolate flavours from maturing in oak. The tannins are well structured and in perfect harmony. The farm's terroir, hot summers and wet winters provide ideal conditions fort cultivating this varietal. The Shiraz will always flourish where food with other spices, e.g. This full bodied, deep-red wine with ample fruit, hints of vanilla and beautiful aromas on the nose. Serving suggestion The Antoinette Marie can stand its own where dishes with fruity slightly sweet sauces, but also with cream sauces, are served. A well-balanced, full-bodied wine with integrated oak flavours and velvety soft tannin finish. Hints of vanilla, chocolate and woodsmoke on the nose are followed by layers of fruit in deep-red wine. The Mediterranean-style climate contributes to the quality of the grapes, resulting in full ripe concentrated flavours. Full-bodied complexity, well integrated fruit & smoky flavours. An intense wine with layers of fruit and a well balanced finish. Serving suggestion The Shiraz will always flourish where food with other spices, e.g. Soil & Winemaking: Well-drained gravel and coffee stone soils. Full-bodied, deep-red wine with lingering mouth feel. Upfront fruit, berry, minty and nutty aromas on the nose, and very well balanced. Elegant wine with good tannin structure and very good ageing potential.
