College acknowledges and respects the rights of the individual, student, teacher and parent. College expects the individual to respect the right of the school to provide an environment in which all can teach, learn and grow. College girls are expected to be courteous and considerate in all their dealings with other persons. The highest standards of truthfulness, honesty and integrity are expected from College girls in all circumstances. College girls are expected to show their loyalty to College by tidiness of person, correctness of uniform and by good behaviour at all times and in all places. They are expected to exercise great care in looking after their own belongings, other people’s and College property (including money, the buildings and grounds) and to make good any damage or loss. They study languages (English as home language, Afrikaans or isiZulu at first additional language level and French at second additional level. A selection is then made of three other subjects from the following designated subjects which all lead to entry for study for a Bachelor’s Degree; Physical Science and Life Science History and Geography Music, Visual Art, Dramatic Art Accounting, Business Studies, Consumer Studies. Reading is regarded as a very important extra and ongoing computer literacy is encouraged by the use of powerpoint and other software in class tasks and presentations. Many different sports are offered at differing levels from league to social teams in including tennis, squash, hockey, netball, football, swimming and water polo. Leadership is encouraged and fostered by a system of library and computer monitors, and other positions in departments such as music and drama. Most subjects organise practical activities, outings and visits relevant to their subject. The cross curricular outcomes of communication, working in groups, solving problems and thinking critically, awareness of human and environmental problems and responsible citizenship underpin much of the planning and implementation of all the learning in the school. A Christian approach, a sense of belonging to a family of friends and a sound work ethic all assist girls to enjoy their years at school and find personal fulfilment as they achieve their own individual goals.
