NEW BUILDING PROJECT Despite the rains, we are fast approaching the conclusion of the building operations in the centre of our school, with an opening of the Square planned for mid-June. In all, the school will spread out and relax amidst the traditional homely surroundings that are so much a part of our character and that will add an immeasurable quality to our environment. We are a week away from the mid-year examinations and the boys and staff have been preparing themselves for these. The Grade Heads will also go over the procedures with their respective grades in the school and what is expected of them. The procedure followed is what the IEB expects for the Grade 12 Senior Certificate Examinations. Just a reminder that all the normal extramural activities continue and the boys have no excuse to miss any of these because they are studying. They boys do have enough time to prepare, and healthy exercise is good for them. The boys should give themselves breaks and rewards for covering sections. As a parent, one is often challenged by what is affecting the lives of our boys and how we can best help them. Dr Bowley, as some of you already know, has been appointed as the Principal of St Benedict School, in Pinetown, and we congratulate her on her new appointment. After 19 years at Clifton, in both the Prep and College, we will be sad to see her go at the end of the term but wish her well. His KZN team won the Team Prize, beating the other provinces overall. It was a species competition over two days and Jack caught a number of cuta, snoek, tuna and a 40kg sail fish. The Grade 7's ventured into the College yesterday to visit one of the Science labs. They had the opportunity to watch an experiment wherein the process of distillation was demonstrated by separating a mixture of water and ethanol. It had been an afternoon of challenging matches for our Prep teams and, when the First XV took to the field just after 19h00, our boys had a great deal of support from the sidelines. Here are a few photos of them in action assisting the community. The boys all did a superb job, having to perform their skits six times over as the parents made their way through the venue throughout the evening.
